content and timing

These days everyone has a Facebook page, a constantly update their Twitter accounts, they watch videos on YouTube, and post their resumes on LinkedIn.  It’s all about the connection, right?  Well, yes.  These connections represent the people that broaden the scope of your network for you and your business.  What’s the saying: it’s not what you know, but who you know?

These networks are vital to your success, yet you could be in a battle against yourself if you do not manage your content effectively across all channels.  The advantage of social media is that is it pushes your message directly to the eyes of your audience without limits to social networking affiliations.  Today, Twitter integrates with LinkedIn and pushes to Facebook, and Google+ incorporates YouTube to create a deeply interwoven web of communication.

It is essential to keep your message consistent across every form of media.  The content that you post to any social network should contribute to the over-all subject matter of your message.  For instance, the content of your Facebook posts should match your Tweets, updates on LinkedIn, and don’t forget, your blog.  Although the exact verbiage may differ based upon the confines of each social network, they should all convey the same message.

Aside from aligning your messages across all social channels, other factors may influence the success of your social media efforts.  Timing is like the prince to “King Content”.  Delivering a consistent message also means that one must update their social media at coordinated times, based upon the nature of each social environment.  For example, Tweets can be sent out more frequently than Facebook updates; however, a Tweet and a Facebook post can be timed to update at the simultaneously.  This method allows users to engage each audience member based upon their social networking preferences, while keeping them each current with real time results.
